How Much Do Guitar Lessons Cost in Dublin?

A straightforward breakdown of guitar lesson pricing in Dublin — what different lesson lengths suit, how block bookings work, and how to judge whether lessons are worth it.

Guitar lesson prices in Dublin vary quite a bit depending on whether you are learning one-to-one or in a group, and how long each session runs. Here is a clear breakdown, including exactly what we charge at SixString Studio.

Our pricing

  • 30 minutes — €30. Ideal for younger students and complete beginners. Half an hour is genuinely enough when you are absorbing your first chords, and concentration tends to fade after that anyway.
  • 45 minutes — €40. The most popular option. Long enough to review last week's practice, learn something new and work on a song, without feeling rushed.
  • 60 minutes — €50. Best once you are past the beginner stage and want to go deeper into technique, theory and repertoire in a single sitting.
  • 10-hour block — €350. Ten hours of tuition booked upfront, saving €150 against the hourly rate.

Which lesson length should you choose?

If you are starting from zero, 30 or 45 minutes is plenty. There is a limit to how much new physical information the hands can absorb in one sitting, and a longer lesson does not necessarily mean faster progress.

Move to an hour when you find you are running out of time — usually once you have material to review, a technique to work on and a song on the go all at once.

Why block bookings work

The €350 block is the best value on paper, but the real benefit is not the discount. It is commitment.

The students who progress fastest are almost always the ones who have booked ahead. Weekly lessons stop being something to decide on each week and become a fixed part of the routine — and the practice tends to follow the routine.

Ten hours is enough to take an absolute beginner to the point of confidently playing songs.

Is one-to-one worth it over learning free online?

There is an enormous amount of good free guitar material online, and you should use it. What it cannot do is watch you play.

Almost every beginner develops one or two physical habits that limit them — a thumb wrapped too far over the neck, a wrist angle that makes barre chords impossible, a strumming arm that tenses up. On video, you will never know. In person, it is spotted and corrected in the first ten minutes.

The other thing a teacher provides is sequencing: knowing what you should learn next, rather than jumping between whatever the algorithm serves up.
